History

In the Spring of 1993, at Texas Tech University, four men of differing spiritual backgrounds and denominations joined together to focus a God given vision of a place for men to join in brotherhood to grow under Christ's leadership. Those men were Tyler Beard, David Boncler, Ken Rowland, and Matt Welborn.

Ken Rowland - Secretary
Ken Rowland is currently the pastor of First United Methodist Church of Crowell and Margaret, Texas.
David Boncler - Vice President
David is currently the Youth minister at Parkside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas.
Matt Welborn - Chaplain
Matt is currently the Student Pastor at NorthWood Church in Keller, Texas.
Tyler Beard - President
Tyler is currently the Associate Pastor at Midland Bible Church in Midland, Texas.

Charter Members / Alpha Chapter - Texas Tech University

Under the guidance of the Four Founding Fathers, the first, or charter, pledge class was trained and eventually initiated. These original thirteen men were:

Beta Chapter - Wayland Baptist University

In the Fall Semester of 1995, Kappa Upsilon Chi was brought to the campus of Wayland Baptist University at Plainview, Texas under the guidance of the Lord. The members of the Texas Tech Alpha chapter initiated the Alpha Class of the Beta chapter. The Beta Chapter Charter Members included:

Gamma Chapter - Southwestern University

Kappa Upsilon Chi's third expansion was brought to the campus of Southwestern University at Georgetown, Texas in the Fall of 1999. The Gamma Chapter Alpha Class was initiated by active members of the Alpha Chapter as well as representatives from the National Officer corps. The Charter Members of the Gamma chapter are:

Delta Chapter - Georgia College & State University

The vision of a Christian Fraternity on the campus of Georgia College & State University began in Marc Thompson's head in a Management course one Thursday afternoon. Marc and several of his Christian guy friends discovered Kappa Upsilon Chi and contacted the national headquarters of KYX Inc. In the fall of 2000 these men meet together for several months in times of accountability, Bible Study, and organizational meetings to start the Delta colony. In July of 2001, Seth Sutton from the Board of Directors went to GC&SU and initiated

Epsilon Chapter - The University of New Mexico

Kappa Upsilon Chi expanded to the campus of the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the Fall of 2003. Dr. Chris Schwab, an alumnus of the Alpha Chapter became the first member to return and serve as Faculty Advisor. He oversaw the Charter Members as they met together, planned, prayed, and finally formed the fifth chapter of Kappa Upsilon Chi. These three charter members traveled to Lubbock, Texas on a snowy day in January of 2004 and were initiated by Matt Carter of the Board of Directors, Dr. Schwab, and the actives and officers of the Alpha Chapter. The charter members of the Epsilon Chapter are:

Zeta Chapter - The University of Oklahoma

In the Fall of 2003, Nathan Rice, an Alpha Chapter active, transferred to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. Having known the nature and ministry of the brotherhood of Kappa Upsilon Chi, Nathan enlisted the help of six other OU students to bring Kappa Upsilon Chi to their campus. In January, 2004 these men were inducted into pledgeship and began the journey towards establishing the Zeta Chapter. These men will be fully initiated at the end of their pledgeship and will be the charter members of the Zeta Chapter. These men are:
