The Greek letters of Kappa Upsilon Chi represent the organization’s primary name, “Keeping Under Christ” — which in itself is a philosophy on which this organization was founded and on which it thrives today.

Our History

In the winter of 1993, four men of differing denominational backgrounds created the Alpha Chapter at Texas Tech University in response to the demand for a Christian brotherhood on campus. Tyler Beard, David Boncler, Ken Rowland, and Matt Welborn brought in their first pledge class of 13 that spring.

The movement from a local fraternity to a national fraternity began in the fall of 1995 when 12 men established a Beta Chapter of Kappa Upsilon Chi at Wayland Baptist University.  From there, the fraternity has steadily grown over the past several years into 14 chapters across 7 states.  As of now, over 1,000 men have been initiated into the brotherhood and now share a common bond.  The number of new brothers continues to rise each year with the establishment of more chapters across the country.

Alumni of the fraternity established an annual Leadership Summit in 2003.  New officers of each chapter and charter members of new chapters attend the event where they are encouraged, strengthened, and receive practical instruction on timeless leadership principles and ways to succeed in their new role as a chapter officer or founding member.  The annual Leadership Summit has provided a useful framework to improve local chapters' leadership abiliities and influence in their respective community.  The Leadership Summit also fosters a sense of National brotherhood and unity among all chapters and members.

Keeping Under Christ, Inc. was established in February 2006 as the National Office.  The founding board of directors consisted of 9 alumni, who have been instrumental in the past, present, and ongoing develoment of the brotherhood.  Those alumni are Mike Eaton, Randy Wiesehan, Brian Alley, Kevin Hail, Brent Webster, Aaron Rohre, Chris Schwab, Brian Rasmussen, and Matt Carter.

The current board of directors is under the leadership of Board Chair and President, Brent Webster.  Board membership is based on past and present dedication to the fraternity, and follows a democratic process of officer and director selection.
